Eileen Moss is a visionary and innovator who always sees what is possible. That ability led her to develop unique programs such as
- The San Diego Youth Master Chorale, an after-school performing arts program. The premise of that program was to demonstrate that when you set high standards, children will rise to the occasion if you give them the tools to work with. Excellence was and always will be the standard! The after-school performing arts programs now in existence are modeled after the San Diego Youth Master Chorale;
- Summer arts camp to benefit and expose under-served inner-city children to classical music, staffed by distinguished arts professionals;
- The Academy of Musical Arts, a private school of music;
- The San Diego Civic Chorale, a community choir specializing in performing works that are not part of mainstream programming exposing the community to the genius of minority composers.
What began as a choral group quickly evolved into a performing arts program. She was ahead of her time when her high school choral group performed not only as a concert choir that focused on masterworks, but also as a show choir before they were popular. Since the popularity of the television show Glee, there has been a national revival of show choirs all over the nation in an effort to reinvigorate music programs cut from the curriculum because of budget.
To dream is to stimulate ideas, those ideas become reality making the dreamer a better person and the world a better place.
